Horse killed in single vehicle incident near Quesnel

A tragic accident for a horse owner in the North Cariboo over the weekend.

Quesnel RCMP attended a single vehicle accident Monday afternoon at around 4:45 on Highway 97 about 20 kilometers north of Quesnel.

Staff Sargeant Andrew Murray says a southbound vehicle that was pulling a horse trailer lost control in heavy rain.

He says this resulted in the horse trailer turning over.

Murray says there were two horses in the trailer.

Unfortunately one succumbed to its’ injuries while the other one was transported to a veterinary clinic.

The driver was not hurt.

Murray says RCMP have determined that speed and alcohol were not factors in the accident.
