Effective at 12 p.m. today the remaining Evacuation Alert area for the Puntzi Lake fire has been rescinded.
The Cariboo Regional District’s Local State of Emergency will expire.
Residents and visitors to the area are reminded that the fire suppression efforts will be ongoing. People living in or traveling through the areas that have been affected by the Puntzi Lake wildfire should use caution as some hazards, such as dangerous trees or hot spots, may still exist.
The Puntzi Lake fire is currently estimated at 8,078 hectares and is 85 percent contained.
