Highway cleanup continues following single accident north of McLeese Lake

Clean-up continues on Highway 97 north of McLeese Lake, the site of a single vehicle accident Wednesday morning involving a B-train that was hauling a load of plywood.

Bill Pattison, a Supervisor with Emcon Services, says 90 percent of the tractor-trailer unit has been removed from the scene but the cab is still in the ditch along with the cargo.

He says they have 18 people stacking the cargo on the shoulder of the road.

Pattison says they hope to have everything cleaned up by 6 o’clock tonight.

In the meantime, traffic is down to single lane alternating, although Pattison says there are only minor delays in the 2 to 3-minute range.

He says the truck was upside down when they arrived on scene and Pattison says the cab was torn from the truck.

Despite that, he says the driver escaped with only minor injuries, which was confirmed by the RCMP.
