Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash north of Williams Lake

Update Tuesday, Sept. 1: Cariboo Chilcotin Traffic Services in Williams Lake continue to investigate a two-vehicle collision that happened North of the Lake City this past Friday afternoon.

“The Southbound motorcycle with a lone rider rear-ended a pickup truck that had stopped in a Southbound lane as it waited to make a left turn onto Scharf road,” Cpl. Mike Halskov said.

“The motorcycle rider, a man in his 60’s from the south-central area of BC, sustained significant injuries and was transported to a regional hospital where he remains in serious condition”.

Halskov said the driver of the pickup truck was not injured and at this time impairment has been ruled out as a contributing cause.

The highway was partially closed for a number of hours as police investigated the crash.

Anyone with information regarding this collision who has not spoken with police is asked to call Cariboo Chilcotin Traffic Services in Williams Lake at 250-392-6122.

Friday, Aug. 30 Update 4:58 pm: Highway 97 is now cleared 2 kilometers south of Wildwood according to DriveBC.

Previous story: A motorcyclist sustained what is believed to be serious injuries after colliding with the back of a pickup near Wildwood on Friday afternoon.

DriveBC said Highway 97 is currently single lane alternating between Jacobson Drive and Airport Road.
