It’s been a long time coming but a full-time permanent ultrasound technician is now on staff at the Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake.
Kim Perris, Health Service Director for Diagnostic Imaging with Interior Health says the position had been very difficult to fill and adds that it is really due to the shortage of ultrasound techs that has been felt across the province.
She says because the Cariboo Memorial Hospital is located in a more rural setting it can be more difficult to find someone to relocate.
This hiring according to Perris, means patients are guaranteed to have someone at the hospital Monday to Friday for elective cases and for emergency ultrasound procedures.
