Rev up the Mower, The Festivals On!

The South Cariboo summer festival is returning this weekend. This marks the third year for the festival. Many family-oriented events will be taking place, and one of the most popular events from the last few years, the lawnmower races, is also returning. “It’s two days this year, ” South Cariboo Chamber of Commerce event coordinator Robyn Angus said, “The feedback I’ve gotten is we will have quite a few out of town coming for this.”

100 Mile Fire/Rescue has put together something special for all the budding firefighters, the kid’s firefighter challenge. “They’ve made this amazing course for the kids to do, it involves running up and down, pulling a firefighter buddy to safety and ringing the bell, it’s going to be amazing.”

Other events include dog agility and a celebrity pie-eating contest. There will also be performers on stage trough the event.

The South Cariboo Summer festival gets underway Saturday morning at the South Cariboo Recreation Center and continues on Sunday. More information and the full schedule can be found here.

The BX Morning Show

I first got into radio when I was a kid when a friend and I made our own radio shows on cassete tapes. Growing up in 100 Mile House, I did a workstudy at this very station.

Thanks to some good advice from my radio mentor Larry Rode, I got a certificate in broadcast arts in 1991. After failing to break into radio after school, I did other jobs but kept my hand in, working as morning host and program director at my universitys station, WUFK in Fort Kent, Maine.

Coming back to 100 Mile, when the afternoon and news job opened up, I took the dive back into radio! When Larry retired after nearly 35 years in 100 Mile, I took over the morning show. I’m happy to be at CKBX, where I always wanted to work, and waking up my hometown!

Tune-in with Chris weekday mornings from 6am to 10am
