Invasive Species Council, Provincial Government Partner to Create Jobs in 100 Mile House, Williams Lake

Six new jobs will be created between 100 Mile House and Williams Lake through a partnership between the provincial government and the Invasive Species Council of BC

Those selected for the program will be provided with training and skills to help limit the impact of invasive plant species in Cariboo communities says Gail Wallin, executive director of the council

They’ll be with us for six months. They’re going to be having a combination, in the summers they’ll be doing field experience with invasive species of plants… doing inventory, mapping, and treating. And in the fall, they’ll be working from 100 Mile to Ashcroft with community extensions.”

The cost for the program is 300,000 dollars and will see another three people receive similar training and employment in Kamloops.
