Wildsafe BC returns to Quesnel for another year

“Keeping wildlife wild and out of our backyards.”

That is the idea behind Wildsafe BC according to Quesnel’s Coordinator Lita Conlin.

She says the program is back for a 2nd season in Quesnel after what she calls a successful first season.

Conlin says people were really getting the message at the of last year to keep their garbage secured.

She says the City and the BC Conservation Foundation are co-funding 420 hours this year, a lot of which will come at the end of the so-called bear season…

“There’s a huge part of this program that will be happening in the fall and that is the fruit gleaning program.”

“So we will be gathering many volunteers to go around to different neighborhood to help pick fruit or clean up fruit that has fallen off of trees and isn’t being used.”

Conlin says they will then sort that fruit and donate it to schools and different charities.
