100 Mile Fire Rescue Respond to Dryer Fire at OSB Mill

Norbord’s OSB mill in 100 Mile House is back up and running following a fire earlier this morning (Friday, June 14).

100 Mile Fire Rescue responded to the fire in the plant’s dryers at approximately 5:30 am.

12 firefighters responded and assisted employees with suppression efforts.

“It’s not uncommon for the OSB or other mills to have fires,” said fire chief Roger Hollander.

“Certainly it’s multiple fires that the OSB mill has throughout the year. That’s common when you have a facility that has hot works in place and they have deluge systems that are all hooked up, they have fire hoses there, so staff at both mills in our town do an incredible job.”
