Open Fire Ban Partially Rescinds

It’s another sign that the wildfire season is winding down.
The Cariboo Fire Center has announced that an open fire ban will be partially rescinded within a portion of the Cariboo Fire Center region.
As of noon today, category 2 open fires will be allowed east of the Fraser River.
Fire Information Officer Sandra Wagner explains what burns are now allowed:
“Burns piled materials; no more than 2 piles, each not larger than 2 meters high and 3 meters wide, burning grass over an area less than 0.2 hectares in size, in addition, the use of fireworks, sky lanterns, and burning barrels are allowed east of the Fraser River.”
Wagner says a ban on category 2 open fires remains in place in areas west of the Fraser River and Category 3 open fires are still prohibited throughout the Cariboo Fire Center’s jurisdiction.
