Legion Week Underway

A week to celebrate the work of the Royal Canadian Legion in BC was proclaimed today by the province’s military liaison.

President of the Williams Lake Legion 139, Bonnie O’Neill says Legion Week is also about honoring and letting all veterans know that the Legion is there for them.

“They do not have to be a member of the Legion to receive assistance from our branch or from any Legion in British Columbia.”

“So I would like to ask all the people in Williams Lake that if you know a veteran that is a not a member and they require assistance they can certainly call our branch. That’s what we’re here for-to support the vets.”

O’Neill says the Williams Lake Legion kicked off the week early with a supper on Friday and that they currently have displays.

She adds that the Legion will be heavily involved with this week’s Stampede with numerous events including a pancake breakfast.

55 legions across the province including Wells are scheduled to hold events this week in part of Legion Week.
