Cariboo Cougars On the Prowl

The Cariboo Cougars are on the prowl after remaining undefeated and picking up three of a possible four points this weekend.

Co-Coach Byran MacLean says the Cougars faced strong competition from the Vancouver North East Chiefs.

“The Chiefs are also a really good team. So for us we really had to work for the points we got this weekend…It’s the same every weekend, but for us, early in the year, it’s nice to have that competition where we’re learning that we need to compete for every single game for 60 minutes. On Sunday we found out we didn’t really have a good start there in the 1st period.”

MacLean adds the team has high expectations.

“We want to be at the top of the league. We feel like we have a really good opportunity this season to challenge for those top spots in the league. We have our sights set on winning the championship but there’s a lot of things that got to happen between now and then. It’s a constant growth period through the whole season for us.”

The Cougars defeated the Chiefs 3-2 on Saturday and tied them 3-3 on Sunday.

Both games were played in Richmond as part of the first BCMML showcase of the season.

The Cougars return to home ice this weekend in Prince George when they take on the Greater Vancouver Canadians.
