Big Bike in Williams Lake raises close to $14,000 for the Heart & Stroke Foundation

The Heart and Stroke Foundation’s Big Bike hit the road in Williams Lake Thursday and raised close to $14,000 this year.

Regional Coordinator Lisa Verity says the turnout was awesome.

“We had 8 very strong teams, 6 rides-almost all of them were full which is 29 or 30 riders on the bike. They were able to do the route down the hill which was a blast and right back up again.”

“I think we had a total of around 165 riders participating so that is a fabulous day for the Heart and Stroke Foundation and for Williams Lake.”

Verity goes on to say that although other events including the Relay for Life are being canceled, the Big Bike is alive and well in Williams Lake.

“We’ve got a couple of new teams already for 2016. We had a mill come up to us-they just happened to be watching and so they’ve come up, they’re going to put in a team for next year.”

“We also drove up to the job site of the Timber Kings and had a little chat with them about putting in a team for next year.”

The Big Bike’s next stop is in Prince George.
