Kiwanis Park sees smoking, drinking, and dogowners

Kiwanis Park is proving to be a hot spot to be in Williams Lake but for all the wrong reasons.

Mayor Walt Cobb, says the City has been receiving numerous complaints.

“Not only because of the new shelter (gazebo) that’s been put in there, that happens later at night but during the day I’ve had complaints about people actually sitting there drinking beer.”

“And smoking; there’s no smoking in public places particularly in a tot park. And people are bringing their dogs; there are signs on the gateways that there are no pets allowed.”

Cobb says bylaw officers along with RCMP will be starting to regularly check the park and issue tickets.
