$5 million in funding to Geoscience BC to benefit Cariboo region says Minister of Energy and Mines

The province has backed informed land-use decisions with $5 million dollars in funding to Geoscience BC.

Minister of Energy and Mines Bill Bennett, says the funding will continue to stimulate further investment in the province, specifically in the Cariboo and North.

“We need to do everything that we can to help companies discover the new mines in the Cariboo and elsewhere in the province.”

“Geoscience BC provides independent information on what’s in the ground, how good it looks, where it is and that encourages companies from around the world to invest in mining and in particular in B.C.”

Geoscience BC has accumulated data for more than 520,00 square kilometers of the province showcasing mineral and energy development potential.

They say they plan to further invest on targeting resources through exploration and knowledge (TREK) and include research into geothermal potential in B.C’s Interior Plateau region which is important for First Nations and off-grid communities in the region that rely on propane and diesel fuel for heat and power.
