The 108 Fire department will be conducting control burns over the next few weeks.
“We’ll be doing some controlled burns around the 108 in high-risk areas such as the beach areas, west beach, main beach, behind the community hall, in that area,” said fire chief Ian Henderson.
The department and CRD have conducted these control burns annually for the last 30 years to remove fuel from high traffic and high-risk areas.
Henderson says the burning will be done weather permitting on the departments Tuesday night practice and is part of the ongoing training program.
