Quesnel residents were allowed back into their homes after RCMP with the assistance of the North District Emergency Response Team arrested a man wanted on several outstanding warrants.
RCMP were called Saturday afternoon at approximately 3:30 pm to the 200 block of Ritchie Street.
“Police located a victim and determined an incident had taken place inside the residence and there were still others inside the residence,” Sgt. Chris Riddle said in a news release.
“Out of an abundance of precaution, the neighbouring residences were evacuated while police began negotiating with the occupants inside the house.”
Two of the residents surrendered several hours later.
The third person who was hiding inside the residence was taken into custody a short while later.
“This man was wanted on several outstanding warrants and is known to police,” Riddle said.
“The Quesnel RCMP realize some people were inconvenienced due to this incident, but appreciate everyone’s patience during this event.”
Evacuated residents were allowed to return to their homes at approximately 10 pm.
