CRD 2019 Budget In Place

The Cariboo Regional District Board has approved its 2019 budget.

While there is an overall increase in this year’s CRD budget, most residents will not see a tax increase.

CRD chair Margo Wagner said this is due to the tax rate depending on the area they live in and services they use.

“Each service of the Regional District operates independently so the tax rate for each resident depends on which services they contribute too,” Wagner said.

“Fluctuations in property assessments and changes in the number of residential or commercial properties that fund the service also impact the tax rates.”

Major projects in this year’s budget include four fire truck replacements and the construction of a dedicated emergency operations center.

The total approved budget totals nearly $53 million, with $25 million coming from property taxes and the rest from grants, user fees, and reserve funding.
