CRD Receives Plaque of Stamp Featuring 2017 Wildfire Firefighters

The Cariboo Regional District has received a plaque of a stamp by Canada Post featuring firefighters as a result of the 2017 wildfires.

Chair and Area H, Margo Wagner shared it with directors at Friday’s regular board meeting.

“This is so nice to be recognized by the post office which is a federal service,” Wagner said.

“We’re now hoping that we’ll later buy some of the bigger plaques to give to our fire departments because they only gave us the one that we’ll put up in the CRD office.”

The stamp honoring firefighters is part of a five-stamp issue honoring the brave emergency responders who put their lives at risk to safeguard Canadians and visitors to Canada when emergencies occur.

“This stamp recognizes the important role that the nation’s firefighters play in protecting the public,” Canada Post said.

“Whether part-time, full-time or volunteer, Canada’s firefighters work tirelessly to protect the lives, property, and environment of the communities they serve.”
