Williams Lake Resident seeks NDP nomination in Cariboo-Prince George

A Williams Lake resident has put her name forward for the Cariboo-Prince George NDP nomination.

Grandmother, volunteer, and also a political newcomer,  Laura Zimmerman, who moved to the Lake City three years ago from Saskatchewan says she feels the timing is right.

“I started working in the community with different associations and organizations; I work with restorative justice, St. Vincent De Paul, I do a lot of volunteering on my own and I see a community that is anxious to progress but every time we turn around we have you know situations-no money.”

“We’re in dire need of many, many things and this government is just not dealing with it.”

Zimmerman says one of her biggest concerns is Bill C-51 and calls the Conservative’s balanced budget a sham.

Two other candidates have put forth their names for the nomination including former Prince George City Councillor Debora Munoz, and Prince George businessman Trent Derrick.

A candidate is expected to be chosen by the end of this month.
