Birks Division Finals Face off Tonight

The 100 Mile House Wranglers are in Revelstoke tonight for the first game in the KIJHL Doug Birks division final against the Grizzlies.

The team beat the Sicamous Eagles 3-2 last Monday in a third overtime period win, finishing the series 4-1. The Grizzlies meanwhile swept their series against the Kamloops Storm. The Wranglers last faced Revelstoke February 18th, a game that ended in an 8-1 loss for them.

Revelstoke and 100 Mile finished the regular season first and second respectively in the division. Game 1 goes tonight at 7 pm at the Revelstoke Forum. Game 2 takes place in Revelstoke Saturday night at 7.

The series shifts to the South Cariboo Recreation Center in 100 Mile House for Games 3 and 4 March 12th and 13th.

I first got into radio when I was a kid when a friend and I made our own radio shows on cassete tapes. Growing up in 100 Mile House, I did a workstudy at this very station.

Thanks to some good advice from my radio mentor Larry Rode, I got a certificate in broadcast arts in 1991. After failing to break into radio after school, I did other jobs but kept my hand in, working as morning host and program director at my universitys station, WUFK in Fort Kent, Maine.

Coming back to 100 Mile, when the afternoon and news job opened up, I took the dive back into radio! When Larry retired after nearly 35 years in 100 Mile, I took over the morning show. I’m happy to be at CKBX, where I always wanted to work, and waking up my hometown!

Prescribed burn scheduled for patch of land within Williams Lake Community Forest

A prescribed burn will be taking place on Dipping Road, 10 kilometres west of Williams Lake, north of Highway 20 along the Fraser River within the Williams Lake Community Forest.

March with Arch honoured at the College in Quesnel

A presentation on Archie Chanytman's March with Arch and healing journey was held at the North Cariboo Community Campus of the College of New Caledonia on October 15. During the presentation, a new short documentary on the March with Arch was shown, followed by Lhoosk'uz Dene Nation elders telling their stories of suriving residential school.
