Two new sheriffs to be deployed to Williams Lake and Quesnel

The City of Williams Lake and Quesnel will be each getting a deputy sheriff to enhance security at their provincial courts.

Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Suzanne Anton, recently made the announcement.

The 12 new recruits who are specifically trained to uphold the security of courthouses and the safety of court users have completed an intensive 16-week Sheriff Recruit Training program at the Justice Institute of B.C in New Westminster.

They will join approximately 495 sheriffs serving throughout the province and also serve B.C Courthouses in Prince George, Fort St. John, Kamloops, Terrace, Dawson Creek, Vernon, and Cranbrook.

One additional recruit will be based out of New Westminster and will serve several courthouses in the Lower Mainland, including Vancouver Law Courts, North Vancouver, Richmond, Surrey, and Port Coquitlam.
