RCMP and School Practice Lockdown

100 Mile RCMP and the Peter Skene Ogden Secondary School conducted a preplanned lockdown drill.

Detachment Commander S/Sgt. Svend Nielsen says Friday’s drill allowed RCMP to practice techniques to be used should a lockdown situation ever be needed.

“There weren’t any weapons or anything present,” Neilsen says.

“We just went through the school with our base routine that we would which helped to not only let the students know what was going on but also our team practicing.”

100 Mile House Fire Rescue was also involved in the scenario which included the fire alarms being pulled.

Nielsen says the drill went very well and the students were very cooperative.

The RCMP thanks parents for their cooperation and understanding of the reasons for holding such a drill.
