Food Bank Recieving Grant

The 100 Mile House food bank has received a large gaming grant that will supply much needed operating capital.

Food Bank Executive Director Bob Hicks says they have received confirmation of a BC gaming grant of $95, 000.

“We applied for it on the last day of the deadline, and we weren’t sure we were going to get it.”

Hicks says the grant will allow the food bank to cover the basic expenses for the year.

“A lot of it goes for the operating costs. There will still be $45,000 or so that we will be putting out for groceries.”

Hicks says there has been 3 percent increase in utilization of food bank services this year.

“Our numbers are a little bit higher, but we’re doing all right. We have enough food in here right now to last about 3 months.”

The 100 Mile House Food Bank can be reached at 250-395-3923.
