A Quesnel business took home an award after Thursday’s 16th annual Small Business BC Awards.
Long Table Grocery won in the Best Community Impact category.
Attending the awards gala in Vancouver, was owner Amy Quarry with her husband and daughter.
“It’s really great,” Quarry said.
“It feels really meaningful to have been chosen for this award. It speaks to I think what we’re trying to do, and it really is for all the people and because of all the people who are a part of Long Table and who support us, and our farmers, our producers, and our team, and all the people that we work with to make it happen and our customers of course.”
“It’s really meaningful and exciting.”
In business for two years, Long Table Grocery serves as a local food hub selling local food products from produce, baking, and preserves to eggs and meats.
“We work with over 40 local farmers and producers in the area. We have a market/cafe store in Quesnel as well as we do subscription vegetable box programs, workshops, cooking classes, and events,” Quarry said.
“It’s a pretty diverse business but I feel like small businesses in small towns sometimes have to be pretty diverse to be able to make it go.”
Growing from a few people to now a team of 10 part-time staff, Long Table Grocery moved into a larger location last July.
Williams Lake’s Realm of Toys was also a contender at the Awards and finished as a top-five finalist for the Premier’s People’s Choice Award.
