Quesnel School Board Feeling Left In The Dark About West Fraser Road

What is going on with the washed out portion of West Fraser Road ?

The Quesnel School District plans to ask the Transportation Minister that question following this week’s Board meeting.

Board Chair Gloria Jackson says they will be sending another letter…

“Reason being is that we’ve have had no word from the Ministry of Transportation on what the options are for West Fraser Road. When we last met with them they stated that they would come back to us early in the New Year with some options and their plans for West Fraser Road, and we haven’t heard anything.”

Jackson says the letter will include concerns over the use of the detour bus…

“One is of course student safety, student well-being, student attendance and we have a staff person on there, a bus driver that is doing some long hours, and we also have some financial concerns for the School District as well. It’s a financial increase for use to be having the extra time, the buses, we’re seeing some extra maintenance and those kind of things.”

Jackson’s concerns follow criticism from Cariboo North Liberal MLA Coralee Oakes on this issue earlier in the week.
