The family of a missing Merritt rancher is pleading for information relating to his disappearance.
Jennifer Tyner said they feel as if they are only shells of the people they were before their son, Ben Tyner, went missing over two weeks ago.
“To think that I will never again see his smile or hear his infectious laugh, never see him realize his dreams, never have him wrap his arms around me again is unthinkable. Our son loved life and touched so many people during his life,” she said in a statement Wednesday.
“If you have any information that could lead to us finding him, no matter how insignificant it might seem, we would be so truly grateful to you.”
Tyner was reported missing to Merritt RCMP on Monday, Jan. 28 when his riderless horse was discovered on a logging road off Highway 97 near Winnie Flats.
The Southeast Major Crime Unit announced last week Wednesday that it is now assisting in the investigation of Tyner.
“It really comes back to a resourcing issue where the resources from the major crime can be called upon from any detachment,” said BC RCMP Media Relations Officer, Sgt. Janelle Shoihet.
“It doesn’t necessarily mean that there’s any reason to believe that there’s any criminality involved.”
RCMP confirm that there have been no major developments or arrests at this time.
