Public Hearing Set for Proposed Brewery in Williams Lake

A proposed brewery at the former Greyhound depot in Williams Lake will be going to a public hearing.

Williams Lake Council accepted a zoning amendment application at Tuesday’s regular council meeting to add brewery as a permitted land use at 215 Donald Road.

“Based on the City of Williams Lake economic development strategic report, this was identified as a business that the City wanted so it will be interesting to see when it goes to the public hearing if we hear anybody else that says that they maybe are not in favor,” said Councillor Marnie Brenner.

“But I know from different people they’re pretty excited about having this kind of facility here, and I think that it will be interesting to see how we do with that.”

President of Fox Mountain Brewing Company Ltd., Dave Reedman is proposing to retrofit the building to establish a brewery that will include a manufacturing area, an on-site storage area, a 50 seat lounge, and restaurant. An outdoor patio containing 30 seats is also anticipated.

A public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, March 12 at 7 pm in the council chambers of City Hall.

“I’ve had numerous people ask me when are we going to get this,” said Mayor Walt Cobb.

“It’s great.”
