A Cold Temperature Record Broken In The Cariboo

Sunday was a record breaker day weather-wise in the Cariboo.

Williams Lake was the coldest at minus 29 point 9 Celsius breaking the old record back in 1981 of minus 27.9 Celsius.

It was equally cold in Quesnel but not cold enough to set a record, however, it was the third coldest day since they’ve kept records at minus 29 point 7 celsius.

“We’ll see temperatures rebound from what we’ve seen on the weekend,” said Environment Canada meteorologist, Bobby Sekhon.

“Tonight (Tuesday) we’ll have a low of minus 22. Tomorrow high of minus 12. On Wednesday night lows will come up again to minus 20 and Thursday low of minus 16 so its trending to be less cold but temperatures well below average for this time of year.”

For the Long weekend, Sekhon said flurries are in the forecast for Friday with temperatures in the negative 20’s for Saturday and Sunday nights.
