Update 1:50pm: Williams Lake RCMP is looking for the public’s assistance regarding a late night shooting.
“We’re looking for some information from the public who may have witnessed anything suspicious anywhere between the hours of 8 pm and 11 pm last night,” said Cst. Joel Kooger.
“The incident occurred up at the Highway 97 brake check just North of Williams Lake where a male sustained a gunshot wound.”
Kooger adds the male sustained non-life threatening injuries which were treated at the Cariboo Memorial Hospital.
Police say the investigation remains in the early stages and there is no further information to release at this time.

Original story: Williams Lake RCMP continues to be on site of an incident north of the Lakecity.
Three RCMP vehicles are in the area between Mackenzie Avenue North and Commodore Crescent along Highway 97.
The area is taped off and the brake check is closed.
