Big Turnout for Williams Lake 1st March Against Monstanto

The 1st ever March Against Monsanto took place in Williams Lake on Saturday.

Organizer of the march, Erin Hitchcock says the turnout was amazing.

“I couldn’t have hoped for anything more. It looks like there was between 75 and 100 people here.  I was hoping 50 would be really awesome.”

“It’s exceeded my expectations and it just goes to show people are passionate about GMOs and Monsanto and things like glyphosate and roundup in our food system.”

One of the attendees at the march was proud parent Tamara Richardson, who says she felt it was necessary to bring with her two young daughters.

“They know all about what we’re doing and what this is about.”

“You know we try to live what we preach and tell everyone we know about what we’re doing and it’s important for them to see that.”

The approximate 45-minute march started and concluded at Cariboo Growers after having proceeded downtown.

Hitchcock says she is already looking forward to planning for next year’s march and hopes to have more things going on.
