Unsecured Fuel Cards Allowing Thieves in Williams Lake to Fill up With Free Gas

Unsecured fuel cards are allowing thieves to make off with free gas.

RCMP in Williams Lake have recently received numerous reports of stolen fuel cards from fleet vehicles in which almost all the fuel cards had the PIN# either written on or near it.

The PIN# in a few cases was written on the vehicles’ sun visor right next to the card.

With the thieves taking the card to a local gas cardlock, RCMP warns that the thieves are likely filling up large tidy tanks as some of the amounts charged against the card are more than $2,000.

“Fuel thieves have been looking for fleet vehicles, from passenger cars and taxis to transport trucks and then stealing the fuel cards found in the vehicle,” said Cst. Joel Kooger.

Anyone with any information regarding the theft of fuel is asked to Williams Lake RCMP at 250-392-6211 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.solvecrime.ca
