The Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department responded to a hotel fire on the weekend that very easily could have been much worse.
Duty Officer Roger Knorr says they were called out to the Grace Inn just after 11 pm on Saturday, May 16.
He says a guard at the neighboring RCMP station noticed the fire and alerted them.
Knorr says the was fire was in an unoccupied room in the ceiling area.
He says they managed to contain it to just the one room but he says if not for the alert guard it likely would have been fully involved by the time they arrived.
Knorr says the cause of the fire was an electrical fan in the bathroom of the room.
No one was hurt.
