Boot Drive Nets Big Results

The annual Boot Drive was a big success for the Williams Lake and Wildwood Fire Departments.

Trevor Schick, with the Williams Lake Fire Department, says the weekend event which raised money for Muscular Dystrophy, saw fantastic results.

“Once again the people in Williams Lake donated like crazy. We wound up with just over $10,000 dollars that will be forwarded on to Muscular Dystrophy Canada.”

Schick, shares with us how the funds raised will benefit those affected by muscular dystrophy.

“Typically the money that ‘s raised by firefighters goes  towards items that will be used by patients that require assistance; so we’ll pay for things like wheelchairs, wheelchair rounds for homes, vehicle customizations so that they can still drive…”

Schick says the next fundraising event by the fire department will be a rooftop camp-out, which is expected to be held this winter.
