Cyclist in hospital after colliding with pickup truck

A Williams Lake man is in critical but stable condition after he struck a pickup while riding his bicycle Wednesday evening shortly after 8.

The 40-year old cyclist was headed northbound on 2nd Avenue North when he struck the back panel of a southbound Dodge Ram pickup.

RCMP say the male, who was not wearing a helmet or protective gear was thrown from his bike as a result of the impact.

The driver of the pickup who had pulled over to the right of his lane was almost at a complete stop.

Ambulance, Search and Rescue, and Fire attended the scene to provide medical attention.

The male who sustained head injuries was airlifted to Royal Inland Hospital after having been taken by ambulance to the Cariboo Memorial Hospital.
