Five Auxiliary RCMP constables received recognition last night.
A ceremony at Williams Lake City Hall recognized the contributions of 5 auxiliary members who have been serving the community.
Sargent Richard Lebeuf, with the Williams Lake RCMP detachment, says the dedicated services of the Constables allow the RCMP to provide a better service to the community.
“I like to call the Auxiliary Constables the ultimate volunteer…they work alongside police officers to keep our community safe; they do that without payment, and often put themselves in harm’s way while doing so.”
Lebeuf says a lot of people do not realize how much they provide to the community.
“They contribute their time to many special events, some of them very big; many times they ‘ll come out for local parades and provide traffic control during runs, they assist with bike rodeos in our community, and they also do ride a longs with members in executions of their duties.”
6 new members also received recognition and were presented badges.
Lebeuf says if anyone is interested in becoming an Auxiliary RCMP Constable to speak to their local detachment.
