Cariboo Fire Centre puts call out for Equipment for Hire

Local contractors are being encouraged to put their equipment to hire for this year’s fire season within the Cariboo.

Emily Epp, with the Cariboo Fire Centre says when things get really busy and equipment is not available locally the Centre has to rely on resources and equipment that’s available elsewhere.

“Our first priority is definitely to hire locally because that’s the easiest and it helps our economy.”

“We are reminding people if you have equipment that you would like, we would love to hear about it.”

Epp says the amount of equipment the Centre requires is dictated by fire activity.

She says their ideal level of preparedness is to have 4 to 6 six pieces available to hire for each of their four planning zones; 100 Mile House, Quesnel, Chilcotin, and Williams Lake-Horsefly area.

Further information is available by contacting the Cariboo Fire Centre’s logistics section at 250-989-2621.
