Are you prepared? National Emergency Preparedness Week continues

National Emergency Preparedness Week continues with local first responders reminding individuals to ask themselves how prepared they would be in a potential disaster without electricity or running water for 72 hours.

100 Mile House Fire Chief Darryl Blades, says with recent international disasters it is important to understand that we are not immune.

“Especially wildfire and some weather events like storms where power and stuff are disrupted for several days.”

“We may not be in a major earthquake zone or like South America with a large volcano; we may not be in those situations but we do have natural disasters and they do happen and they’re unpredictable.”

Blades encourages individuals to prepare and have on hand an emergency preparedness kit, which includes drinking water, non-perishable food items, and flashlights.
