Annual School Report Card released

An annual report card by the Fraser Institute that ranks schools across the province has been released today.
Superintendent of Schools for School District 27, Mark Thiessen, says he doesn’t put a lot of thought into the ranking themselves which are based on the results from the government’s 2013-14 Foundation Skills Assessment.
“I would be lying if I said I don’t look at the report at all each year, but it is interesting to see trends and to have schools their scores, how they range from year to year and how they change.”

“The Fraser Institute does this for specific reasons,” he says. “I always remind people that the Fraser Institute rankings are based on one snapshot assessments.”

The Report which rated 978 public and independent elementary schools shows the 3 top fastest improving schools in Langley, Surrey, and Prince Rupert.

The Report had ranked Cataline Elementary School in at 886 out of 978, with Marie Sharpe in at 946.
