Update: (Friday, Nov. 23): A home on Kinglet Road in Williams Lake has sustained significant damage after a fire.
Chief of the Williams Lake Fire Department Erick Peterson said 22 firefighters responded to the incident just before 1 Thursday afternoon.
“We had multiple calls for smoke showing in the area of Russet Bluff,” he said.
“When crews arrived on scene we had heavy smoke coming out of both the gable ends of the building. Fortunately we were able to knock down the fire fairly quickly and all in all, I’m just happy no one was hurt.”
The department was on scene for almost five hours.
While the cause is not known at this time, Peterson said it does not appear to be suspicious.
WLFD Responds to Structure Fire at Kinglet Road

A structure fire on Kinglet Road off South Lakeside Drive in Williams Lake has been extinguished.
“We are still on scene,” WLFD chief Erick Peterson said at 3:50 pm.
“The fire is out.”
Original Story: The Williams Lake Fire Department (WLFD) was on the scene of a structure fire Thursday afternoon on Kinglet Road off South Lakeside Drive.
Smoke was visible coming from the home and 3 engines remained on scene as of 1:45 pm.
Members of the RCMP and BC Ambulance Service also attended.
There are no further details at this time.
