The orangizer of the Art Walk and Sale in Williams Lake, wants the city to be the mural capital of the Cariboo.
Willie Dye, or perhaps better known as Arty the Art Walker, presented to last night’s city council his concept of putting the Lake city on the map.
Dye, says by having the most murals in the region, people would have further reason to visit Williams Lake.
“It gives an established point for what we already are. All you have to do is go out and look at the 15 murals in Williams Lake, and you’ll know it’s a pretty great place.”
Dye adds the city promotes it in the right way, there could be great economic benefits.
“I see people from 100 Mile House, Quesnel, Bella Coola, Kamloops…We could make a song out of this, “Coming to Williams Lake Just to look at our murals.”, and if they’re here they need meals, they need gas, they need a place to stay.”
Dye says there is a lot of history behind each mural and projects one mural to be completed each year.
Dye highlights the concept online through his video on Youtube.
