Mt. Polley Community Open House Tonight in Williams Lake

A community open house regarding Mt. Polley’s permit application for a potential restart is scheduled to take place in Williams Lake this evening, with the Mayor strongly encouraging residents to attend.
Walt Cobb says he believes it is extremely important.
“Stand-up and make a presentation-just say hey I live in Williams Lake, I need a job, whatever your issue may be.”
“You don’t have to make a big, long speech, but I think it’s important to let not only the mine know we need them but the government officials who will be there to know how much this community is depending on them to make a decision.”
Cobb goes on to say that although the Cariboo Regional District (CRD) is waiting to write any letters of support for the restart of Mt.Polley until the consultation period closes on April 29th, he strongly believes he is making the right choice in pushing for the mine’s restart.

“We’re not asking for anything special. We’re just asking to move the process forward as fast as they can. We’re not saying don’t take care of the environment, not to do this, not to do that. We’re just saying to move it ahead as fast as you can. We cannot afford to not have this mine reopen.”

The Community Open House starts at 6:30 pm at the Gibraltar Room.
