RCMP Arrest Prince George Man Suspected of Attempted Thefts in the Williams Lake Area

Update: RCMP have released further details on the arrest of a Prince George man who is suspected of involvement in attempted thefts in the Williams Lake area.

100 Mile House Cpl. Ryder Birtwistle says police in Williams Lake and 100 Mile were looking for a stolen truck that had fled Conservation Officers in the Williams Lake area.

“The suspect stopped in Lac La Hache and dumped the stolen truck,” Birtwistle said in a release.

“He then stole an SUV from a residence.”

The vehicle was located exiting Wright Station Rd. southbound on Highway 97 and RCMP conducted a risk takedown of the lone male occupant.

“Highway 97 was shut down for a short period of time to ensure public safety during the arrest,” Birtwistle said.

The 31-year-old remains in custody awaiting a court appearance on Tuesday where he is facing numerous charges including theft of a vehicle, flight from police and breach of probation and recognizance.
