Funding Shortfall Delaying Urology Program for the South Cariboo

A delegation from Interior Health was in 100 Mile House this week to discuss improvements being made to service and answers questions from District Council and the public.

While there were positives to be had in the form of the H-A-R-T program and the development of the Interior Heart and Surgical Centre, much of the discussion was focused on laundry services and the difficulty in getting specialists to the South Cariboo.

It’s an issue of funding says Peter du Toit, a Senior Healthcare executive with Interior Health, who tries to explain that with a freeze on new spending, it’s an uphill battle to secure the specialists.

Though there was a degree of frustration for those in attendance at the seeming bureaucratic brush off, du Toit explained that efforts of those in 100 Mile House have helped to push the issue to top of the pile of pending programs for Interior Health’s next planning session.
