Police dog helps 100 Mile House RCMP nab suspect hiding in Watch Lake area

Mounties in the South Cariboo got their man, with an assist from one of their four-legged officers.

Cpl. Brian Lamb confirms that 100 Mile House RCMP conducted an arrest warrant apprehension for a male who was hiding on a property in the Watch Lake area.

Lamb says the suspect, who has a history of violence, was facing 12 charges in Chilliwack and Abbotsford.

Lamb says the suspect fled from an outbuilding on the property and a chase then ensued, one that involved the assistance of a police dog from Williams Lake…

“The individual actually commandeered a boat and rode it across the lake.”

“The search was coordinated on the other side of the lake and the police dog did locate that individual.”

“Upon arrest, there were several commands given to that individual which he did not comply with as such the dog affected the arrest and the individual did receive a bite.”

Corporal Lamb says the suspect was then treated for his injury at 100 Mile hospital before being transported to Kamloops for further treatment.

He says the suspect was released to the RCMP in Kamloops.
