Lions Draw Winners Announced

The 100 Mile Lions Club drew the winners of their 1st annual boat draw fundraiser September 4th.

All 2000 tickets were sold over the summer for the four prizes.

The draw was held yesterday at Whimseys Gifts in 100 mile house.

The winner of the grand prize, a Princecraft boat with Mercury outboard and Karavan trailer from Cariboo supply and Marine, was Jordan Purcha. Second prize, a Bradley smoker from Donex Pharmacy, went to Jason Quinn. Third prize, a $200 dollar gift card from Donex Pharmacy went to Robert Tate, and the fourth prize winner was Patrick Gruening who takes home an electric trolling motor, also from Cariboo Supply and Marine.

The Lions want to thank all the sponsors of the event as well as everyone who bought tickets.

I first got into radio when I was a kid when a friend and I made our own radio shows on cassete tapes. Growing up in 100 Mile House, I did a workstudy at this very station.

Thanks to some good advice from my radio mentor Larry Rode, I got a certificate in broadcast arts in 1991. After failing to break into radio after school, I did other jobs but kept my hand in, working as morning host and program director at my universitys station, WUFK in Fort Kent, Maine.

Coming back to 100 Mile, when the afternoon and news job opened up, I took the dive back into radio! When Larry retired after nearly 35 years in 100 Mile, I took over the morning show. I’m happy to be at CKBX, where I always wanted to work, and waking up my hometown!

Williams Lake RCMP says new Disclosure Unit has increased community involvement

Cattle investigation underway in Quesnel

RCMP
RCMP are investigating two cases of cattle being poached in the Quesnel and Hixon areas. RCMP believe the incidents took place in mid-September.
