Opposition committee hears agricultural concerns

Concerns on government policy and regulations limiting agricultural opportunities were brought forth to the  Opposition Standing Committee for Agriculture and Food from farmers and ranchers in Williams Lake yesterday.
Committee chair MLA Lana Popham says the government is ignoring critical economic development opportunities in the Cariboo.
She points to the Agricultural Land Reserve, which was presented as an example of this.
Other issues discussed included challenges facing young farmers, predator control not being addressed, and unworkable dam regulations.
Popham says the Committee will be taking the concerns they heard to the Legislature on Monday with their next stop in the Comox Valley in May.
