New Wildfire In North Cariboo

There is a new wildfire burning in the North Cariboo.

Jessica Mack, a Fire Information Officer with the BC Wildfire Service, has the details…

“Yesterday we had a new wildfire start in the afternoon and that is near Narcosli Creek. It is now considered being held and it is estimated at 11 hectares in size. There are 22 firefighters, two support personnel, two fire officers, a water tender, heavy equipment and one helicopter on site.”

Mack says the suspected cause right now is lightning.

What a difference a year makes as this fire is one of only three active wildfires burning in the Cariboo Fire Centre region.

The others, also under control, are in Grain Creek and the Nazko Lake park fire, northwest of Alexis Creek.
