Crews Mopping Up Fire Near Maze Lake Road

Crews are on mop-up of a wildfire 130 Mile south of Maze Lake Road.

“The fire is 1.8 hectares in size,” said Cariboo Fire Centre information officer Jessica Mack.

“Tankers were on site yesterday and today we have 11 firefighters on site with one cause and origin personnel with a water tender as well.”

The fire Mack says was discovered Wednesday through the public by calling it into the 1-800 number.

The fire at this time is suspected to be human-caused.

Crews on Wednesday also responded to fire located 1 km west of the north end of Knox Lake which is suspected to have been caused by lightning.

“Tankers were on site yesterday and the estimated size is 0.01 hectares,” says Mack.

“There are three firefighters on site and they do expect to call it out either today or tomorrow.”
