Quesnel Boxer Off To Ireland

The hurricane is about to land in Ireland.

12-year old Quesnel boxer Britynn “Hurricane” Carter leaves for an all-female international sparring camp in Edenderry, Ireland on Sunday.

Wally Doern, the coach of the Two Rivers Boxing Club in Quesnel, says it is a great opportunity for her…

“There will be a Canada coach there, one of the top Canada coach as well as several other international coaches and female boxers too, pretty highly ranked female boxers so it’ll be quite a school for her, a real eye opener ya for sure.”

Doern says Carter will be at the camp from August 1st through the 9th.

He just can’t say enough good things about her…

“I think we’ve got some great things to come from her. She is a hard trainer and a quick learner, she listens to all the techniques that a person tells her and she trains hard to adapt them. I really think that she is really going to end up going places in the future, well she already is.”

Carter will be gone for a full month, as Doern says she will attend another camp in Sooke in late August.

He says she also plans to take part in a tournament in California after that.
